Journey From Red To White – Sean’s Story

A Keihatsu Aikido Milton Keynes Testimonial

“I always wanted to try Aikido. I grew up watching old-school Steven Seagal films with my Granddad. Seagal quickly became a idol to me; a bloke who could throw knives and move through his opponents easier than a hot knife through butter.

After running London Marathon in April 2017 I finally had the time to give Aikido a go. I vividly remember being rather nervous walking up to my first lesson. I’m quite a confident guy and martial arts is not new to me… but there was a lot of uncertainty. Would I like it? Am I going to be out of my depth? Will it work?

To my amazement I was given a very warm, very kind welcome to the club. From that moment the nerves vanished and I started to have a lot of fun!

Clearly I liked it because since that first free lesson I’ve invested around 70 hours on the mat learning the art and even passed my first grading just the other week – I am no longer a Red Belt and can say I am a proud White Belt, ready to keep the train moving.

Truth is, I know I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of Aikido – there is so much still to learn and I am more than aware it could take a lifetime to master… but that excites the hell out of me.

If you’re thinking of giving Aikido a try… just do it. Your first lesson at the club is completely free which means there is absolutely no risk to you, you have nothing to lose but so much to gain!”
